Flat Repairs
There’s nothing worse than walking out to your car in the morning only to realize you have a flat tire. We’ve all been there. It's usually obvious when tire damage warrants replacement. Oftentimes, though, a nail or screw will puncture the tire and create a slow leak. These punctures can typically be repaired by a plug or patch if they aren’t too close to the sidewall.
tire plugs
Plugs work best when you’ve run over a nail or similar blunt object that punctures the tire and causes it to leak air. After the nail or sharp object is removed, the plug can be inserted into the hole to fix the leak. While plugs of the old days were problematic and served more as a band-aid type of repair than anything else, many plugs available today actually vulcanize to the tire to provide better stability.
Tire Patches
A patch is considered to be a better quality tire repair. However, it’s a bit more laborious of a repair than a plug. Patching a tire actually consists of removing the tire from the rim and then using a die grinder to clean up a 2-inch diameter around the puncture to give the patch enough of an area to bond with. Once the patch is bonded to the inside of the tire, it is then mounted back onto the rim, filled with the correct air pressure, and then tested in our water tank to make sure there is no longer a leak.
Tire Installations
Your tires are professionally mounted, balanced and installed by Park Tire's expert tire technicians. After initial tire mounting, charges will apply for seasonal tire changeovers. We'll also properly dispose of your old tires in an environmentally sound manner by recycling them.
Front End Maintenance and Alignments
When your tire alignment is off, your ability to drive safely is compromised. Sometimes unaligned wheels can be obvious – your car pulls to one side of the road or your steering wheel has is slightly cocked. In some cases, it can be subtle and the driver won't even notice. That's why regular tire alignment checkups are a must. The better maintenance you keep, the longer your car will run. If your car alignment feels off – or if it's simply been a while – come see us at Park Tire and our Alignment Mechanic will take a look.
front end inspection
At Park Tire our Alignment Mechanic will happily inspect your vehicle for any front end maintenance that may be required. The cost of inspection ($25) will go toward the maintenance required if done at Park Tire.
front-end alignment
A 2-wheel alignment, also known as a front-end alignment, means the mechanic performs the service on only the front wheels, which may include a camber, toe, and caster adjustment. In some cases, a ‘thrust angle adjustment’ may be necessary, to ensure that all four wheels are ‘square’ with one another.
four-wheel alignment
A 4-wheel alignment refers to adjusting all four wheels, which is typically required on all-wheel-drive vehicles, with independent suspensions. This may include a front toe and caster adjustment, just like the front end alignment, while the rear wheels receive a toe and camber adjustment as well.
Balancing and Rotations
Every time a tire is fitted to a wheel, it should be balanced. At high speeds, tires generate enormous centrifugal forces. Even tiny irregularities are multiplied by many orders of size. Such imbalance stresses tires and suspension. This weight irregularity is tested and balanced by our tire technicians. You may need to have your tires balanced if you experience vibration in your steering wheel or shaking and swaying while driving.
high speed balancing
While balancing your tires, a technician uses a highly calibrated balancer and then applies wheel weights (measured in ounces) to evenly redistribute the weight of a tire and wheel assembly. This process eliminates or minimizes any vibrations to ensure a smooth ride, while also reducing wear and tear on suspension components.
road force balancing
Road force balancers, in addition to performing a traditional spin balance, measure both the wheel and tire by pressing a large roller against the tread of the spinning tire. The roller applies 1,200 to 1,400 pounds of pressure to simulate the weight of the vehicle on the tire as it rolls down the road.
Tire Rotations
Regular rotations help achieve more uniform tread wear on all your tires. Your vehicle owner's manual is the best resource for recommended rotation pattern. At Park Tire, we recommend having this service every 5,000 to 8,000 miles or sooner if uneven tread wear begins to appear. If uneven tread wear is apparent, it is best to have one of our experts also check for any alignment or other mechanical problems before rotation.
